Position Term: Ongoing, 37.5 Hours per week

Summary of the Position:

The Culture Care Connect Network Coordinator will develop and coordinate suicide prevention activities at a local level and play a key role in the development of the program, inclusive of program delivery and outcomes. The role will be supported by the BGHS Social & Emotional Well Being Team. 
The Culture Care Connect Network Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the program and undertaking service and funding mapping for the network area. They will be working with community, Aboriginal, and mainstream service providers to understand local needs, service gaps, locally available services and barriers to access. 
The coordinator will be responsible for establishing appropriate clinical and cultural governance (to be outlined in the Network Suicide Prevention Plan) and supporting delivery of suicide prevention and postvention activity as outlined in the localised plan. 

Ability to travel and stay overnight.

Summary of the Position:

The Culture Care Connect Aftercare Worker is responsible for providing assertive and timely follow­up care for all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people referred to this service following a suicide attempt or suicidal crisis, in line with the co-designed aftercare model of care. 
The person in this role will be resourced with strong training and ongoing support mechanisms including clinical and cultural supervision. 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE 
ESSENTIAL: ►    Possess Certificate IV in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander primary health and or, Certificate IV in Mental Health, Certificate IV Community Services or equivalent training and or experience.
►    Experience working with Aboriginal and Torrest Strait Islander people, families and communities.
►    Excellent written and oral communication skills
►    Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite.
►    Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history, knowledge of current issues affecting the lives of Aboriginal people.
►    Demonstrated experience in office administration tasks.
►    Current police check and WWVP check.
►    The ability to work outside normal office hours.
►    The ability to travel and stay overnight/s.
►    Current Class C driver's licence.

DESIRABLE:

►    Trained Aboriginal Health Worker
►    Is of Aboriginal descent, identified and accepted by their local Aboriginal community.

Summary of  the Position:

The Counsellor reports to and is directly accountable to the Cultural & Clinical Lead and is responsible for providing support in the delivery of Social and Emotional Wellbeing care to clients. The Counsellor forms part of the SEWB Multi Disciplinary team and works collaboratively with the team and Bega staff.

To be considered for this position, you must have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Counselling or Psychology and/or appropriate professional registration in Western Australia;
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in mental health and/or drugs and alcohol) settings;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current issues, standards and trends in the delivery of mental health and SEWB services to Aboriginal people;
  • Effective organisational and time management skills, the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines;
  • Highly developed Interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated high level of written and verbal communication skills, including report writing, policy development and data collection;
  • Knowledge of the local community able to travel throughout the Goldfields Regions;
  • Demonstrated assessment, case management and treatment skills
  • High level oral and written communication skills, including the ability to relate well to staff and to liaise effectively with key stakeholders;
  • Current Police Clearance (within 3 months) and Working With Children Check;
  • Ability to travel and stay overnight/s as required;
  • Current WA ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.

Desirable:

  • Aboriginality is advantageous in this role but is not an essential requirement;
  • Hold accreditation with the AASW or specific field of service governing body, with the possession of a Medical Provider Number (or working towards);
  • Membership with the Australian Counselling Association or equivalent.

    relationships with ATSI people;
  • Experience working with Aboriginal people in the area of social and emotional wellbeing;
  • Ability to plan and present promotional events which support the SEWB of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people;
  • Ability to develop and deliver SEWB activities and programs for ATSI people;
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team, as well as independently when required;
  • Ability to use initiative and creativity to achieve service outcomes;
  • Strong ability to build strategic partnerships;
  • Ability to undertake regular travel and overnight/s stay
  • Computer literacy, proficiency in Microsoft suit
  • Current ‘C’ class drivers licence
  • Current National Police Clearance (valid within 3 months)
  • Current Working with Children Check
